Connecticut vs. Butler Thread

This is the Jags All Day NCAA Men's Basketball championship game thread. That's a mouth full. Here's the deal. I'll begin adding my comments at or around the tip, and I'll continue throughout the game. By all means, feel free to add your comments as well. As a reminder, you have to hit the refresh button to view updated comments. I know it's a hassle, but it is what it is. Tip is at 9:23 PM tonight. I'll see everyone back here tonight.

  1. Even the analysts can't decide who to pick. This has all the makings of a great game. March Madness at its finest.

  2. I'm almost ready to go; is everyone out there ready?

  3. Hot dogs and a Coke are the snacks of choice for me tonight.

  4. The local broadcast from Indy just ended. As expected, it was Butler heavy.

  5. I love everything about single elimination tournaments such as the "Big Dance" and the NFL playoffs. It's the drama of game 7, every game.

  6. I find it ironic that this football blog has only ever covered one football game (the Super Bowl) while this will be my second basketball in-game blog. That's okay, I'll fix that when football season rolls back around.

  8. Introductions are over, here we go.

  9. Thanks for joining me, that was easy for UConn.

  10. Nailed the 3. Gotta hit those layups though.

  11. Wow, they aren't calling much tonight. Foul on UConn.

  12. Over the back on UConn. Butler has to get better shots.

  13. Smith can't hang on to the ball.

  14. Howard buries the 3. Those could be big tonight.

  15. Hard foul. Butler will have to hit more shots to win. UConn is beating them bad inside.

  16. Smith had problems handling the ball in the semi-final too. He's got to get it together.

  17. 2 fouls for the big man. He needs to stay clean in this one.

  18. UConn has the physical advantage, and Butler has the scrappy advantage. Hmm.

  19. Should've been a time out, but it's a tie ball. UConn takes it. It strikes me that neither team is playing to their potential right now.

  20. I really don't know how Butler's still in the game. They've shot horribly.

  21. Pretty 3. Butler leads at halftime 22-19. I'll be back for the second half.

  22. I'm back, here we go to decide it all.

  23. UConn is in trouble if those bounces start going in Butler's favor.

  24. UConn's size is becoming a real asset.

  25. Butler had issues at the beginning of the 2nd half against VCU as well. The question is whether or not they can weather this storm.

  26. Free throws will be huge in the late part of this game.

  27. That ref shouldn't have been making the call. He didn't have a good angle.

  28. The refs are making bad calls or not calls. You can't call one run by as a foul and the other as a no call. It's the same as calling a jersey pull a holding on one team and not on the other.

  29. Butler can't buy a basket right now.

    ReplyDelete
  30. UConn is playing very physically right now.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 5 points game. Butler's made 2 shots this half.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Butler needs something to happen quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Butler can't hit layups tonight. I'd say they're toast. I'm out. Have a great night everyone.
